Ep 64 Gratitude
===
Hello, listener, and welcome back to the belief shift podcast. My name is Camille Rapaz. I'm a business consultant and leadership coach. And today I am going to be doing a little bit of a different episode. I'm going to keep this short because here in the U S it is Thanksgiving week. And I decided it would be a good time to take a little bit of a break from the podcast, but also would be a good time to highlight the importance of gratitude. So if you don't already have a gratitude practice, I highly recommend it. I do this by simply writing one brief sentence for myself at the start of my day before I get into my daily planning process.
Just one sentence about something I'm grateful for. And I started to reflect back on this because I was curious, what have I been writing over all of this time? Cause sometimes it feels a little repetitious for me. And I realized that a lot of times I'm writing something very simple. Like I'm just grateful that the sun is shining today and I live in the Pacific Northwest. So when the sun comes out, it's kind of a big deal, especially in the fall right now. So these levels of gratitude, sometimes they just feel, you know , are they worth it? Are they, is it making a difference? And for me, it definitely has. There are plenty of studies that back up the importance of gratitude. And these small bits of gratitude, like the one I described, sometimes they're talked about as the gratitude that's the under the water part of the gratitude iceberg, and they can be really important and powerful, so don't underestimate the value of gratitude at whatever level it is.
It doesn't have to be a big grandiose thing that you're grateful for. It's really the focus on the little things in life that we tend to take for granted that can really be powerful. So today I just wanted to remind you to really think about gratitude and think about it both for yourself, but also to express it to other people.
So expressing your gratitude for something that somebody has done for you, but also it can be really powerful to just be grateful to someone for just a way that they are something about them that you were just so grateful for. That can be a really empowering for them.
And also just another great way for you to think about that person their value to you isn't just in what they do, but just in who they are. So today, I want to say that I am so grateful to you, listener, for all that you do in hanging out with me, listening to the episodes, and providing me feedback, but also in just who you are, because who you are is a learner, and a listener, just a lovely human being who wants to hang out with me and my brother and listen to us talk about whatever crazy thing we decide we want to talk about on the podcast. So thank you so much for being here and supporting us. And especially to those of you out there who have given me direct feedback who say, you just love having us in your ears every week to keep you going.
That just empowers me so much and just makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside that every time I record a podcast, I am helping you. So thank you so much for all of that input. I hope that you all have a fabulous week and George and I will be back in your ears next week with a full episode.
