The Three Pillars of a High-Performance Business

You’ve made a decision to be an entrepreneur and that means you’re on a journey like no other.

In my work with businesses of all shapes and sizes, I’ve found there are 3 pillars of a high-performance business that must be focused on to achieve sustainable success.

The three pillars of high-performance are Clarity, Systems & Mindset.

Let’s break each one down.

Clarity

Seek more clarity in your business!

Clarity includes vision and mission, business plan, marketing strategy, brand messaging, business model, goals, and plans. Anything that defines your business will always benefit from more clarity

This isn’t a one-time activity. As much as we might hope that someday we’ll have it all figured out, the reality is you’re on a journey of discovery. After all, you don’t know what you don’t know.

As it turns out, the more you learn, the more you’ll discover there’s yet more to learn. But, that’s part of the fun because you didn’t become an entrepreneur to get bored. Embrace the idea that your business is never set in stone.

You get to decide which direction it goes, and every decision you make is providing more clarity which is making the foundations of your business stronger and setting you up for sustainable success.

Systems

Systems are the steps, processes, and tools you use to run your business. This includes operating activities such as how you deliver products/services to your customers.

Work to build stronger and more reliable systems every day. This includes software tools and systems you use to run your business, and the processes for how you engage with vendors and employees.

Systems are what keep your business humming along efficiently and effectively. They require constant attention to keep them running optimally. Focus on developing appropriate systems and processes so your business runs smoothly. Without them, you have chaos and overwork and as a small business, you need all the efficiency you can get!

This is also not a one-time endeavor. It’s never too soon to start creating systems. Then, fine-tune them, and provide proper care and feeding so they don’t deteriorate. Systems will make life easier for you as a business owner.

Mindset

Continually develop your mindset for business, leadership & success.

As a small business owner, you wear a lot of hats, but the one constant is you. Keeping your head in the game is essential and you’ll need to be able to adapt to all sorts of situations.

This too is an ongoing activity as you will continually work on developing yourself. This includes becoming better at running your business as you put on your CEO hat, becoming a better leader, and ultimately wiring your brain for success by building resilience and agility!
