Camille: Welcome to The Belief Shift. The show that explores. What you really need to know about building a successful small business.
I'm your host, Camille Rapacz: small business coach and consultant who spent too much of her career working in corporate business performance.
George: And I'm George Drapeau: your co-host and her brother. I'm a leader in the tech world bringing my corporate perspective, but mostly my curiosity.
Camille: Together, we're exploring beliefs about success and how to achieve it. But mostly we're bringing practical solutions so you and your business can thrive.
Camille Rapacz: Hey George,
George Drapeau: Hey, Camille.
Camille Rapacz: I am getting ready to go on vacation, so we're gonna not record an episode.
George Drapeau: Well, I'll miss you, but I hope you have a great refreshing vacation.
Camille Rapacz: I am gonna have a great refreshing vacation and I'm gonna be gone a long time, so we're not gonna skip all the weeks I'm gone. But we, you and I are not gonna record podcasts for like three weeks.
George Drapeau: Whoa,
Camille Rapacz: you gonna do?
George Drapeau: I don't know yet. Probably spend time with my family.
Camille Rapacz: Your podcast studio is gonna get so lonely.
George Drapeau: Yeah, it's gonna be weird. I might have to record an empty podcast to myself. Just
Camille Rapacz: That'd be great. You're welcome to.
So I'm gonna be out for three weeks and rather than try and have an episode every single week, I'm gone. I thought, you know what, let's just be honest. I'm just a one woman show over here, so I shouldn't try to make all of these episodes happen. But thankfully we are actually ahead enough that we really only have to skip this week.
So we're gonna kind of skip it even though we're literally talking to you right now, people on the week that I say I'm skipping. So yeah, there's that.
So I had this really quick question I wanted to ask you and then we'll pop off.
So I was reflecting on our belief shifts, right?
So we have our eight belief shifts. Which you should have completely memorized by now.
George Drapeau: Mm-hmm.
Camille Rapacz: Sure you could just rattle them off.
George Drapeau: Curiosity over, critique.
Strategy over spaghetti at the wall
Camille Rapacz: yes.
Process
George Drapeau: over outcomes.
Camille Rapacz: Yeah.
George Drapeau: Micro moves over big actions.
Camille Rapacz: Yes.
George Drapeau: Structure or foundations, over quick fixes.
Camille Rapacz: Yeah.
George Drapeau: Did we talk about trade offs versus sacrifice?
Camille Rapacz: No, that's another one.
And then I think the last one we're missing is planning it over winging it.
George Drapeau: Yeah. Yeah.
Camille Rapacz: I'm cheating and looking at the list, just so you know. So we have all these belief shifts. Do you feel like in all of our conversations, like should we be updating it or do they feel pretty rock solid?
I I
George Drapeau: think they're solid. I've been thinking about this from time to time and trying to think would I add a new belief shift? Not yet.
But you know what? In phase two of the belief shift cinematic universe here, I think, I think I am gonna think more carefully, more diligently about is there another belief shift that we should be thinking about here?
I haven't come up with any yet. I am not sure I would lose any either. I don't think I would take it away. I would be curious to know if we over the, what 40 or so episodes were recorded so far. If we tagged the episodes, how many belief shifts were, largely relevant to each of them, how that would look.
Camille Rapacz: That's a really good question. I've thought about that too. If I had to actually assign belief shifts to specific episode topics, how that would play out. I know that at one point I felt like there was something that maybe we should add as a belief shift.
George Drapeau: Oh really?
Camille Rapacz: But I don't remember what it was now, so maybe it wasn't that important.
Anyhow. I think it's a great question for our audience. So maybe they think there's a belief shift that we just don't really talk about or isn't really that significant to them. Because I want it to be impactful. Like when you really think about that belief shift, does it cause you to go, oh yeah, yeah.
If I leaned into that one a little bit, it would actually help me and my business, right? Because these should be doing both. It should be helping you running your business as a person. But also really helping your business as well. Like those things kind of go together.
So if anybody is thinking, Hey, I have another idea for a belief shift, or you know what, this one you never really talk about it, or I don't really find it it's very useful if you have any feedback like that. I want it. Leave us a voicemail.
I wanna be thinking about this as later in the year we'll be coming up on our one year anniversary. And then I really wanna kind of assess this and think about do we have these belief shifts really dialed in? And are we really tackling them in the right way?
So like our last topic was about better meetings and that's really focused on planning it over winging it.
George Drapeau: Yeah.
Camille Rapacz: If you're just a little more planful in your meetings, it will make a difference. But we haven't really been calling them out every time, and that's probably my bad. Getting back to kind of focusing on tying 'em together would be really fun.
So if you have thoughts about that, leave us a voice message at, thebeliefshift.com. There's a little voicemail widget and you can just talk to us. We would love it.
Otherwise, I'm gonna check outta here cuz I don't wanna record many more podcasts cuz it's just creating more work for me to do before I go on vacation.
George Drapeau: Yes. Are you leaving the planet for this vacation or are you staying on planet?
Camille Rapacz: Man, I wish I was leaving the planet, but no. Yeah, that would be my dream vacation.
George Drapeau: I know.
Camille Rapacz: So, I'm gonna be checking outta here. So you enjoy your three weeks of blissful, not recording a podcast.
George Drapeau: I will miss you while you're gone.
Camille Rapacz: All right. That's all for this week, and we'll be back with a full episode though next week.
George Drapeau: See everybody.
Camille Rapacz: Thanks everybody.
